During the visit of a high-ranking Chinese delegation from Tianjin, led by the Chairman of the Communist Party in Beichen District of the city of Tianjin, Mr Zhang Sheng Ru, an agreement was signed on 26 May 2015 for the acquisition by Kern-Liebers of 45,000 square meters in an industrial park in Tianjin, about an hour's drive from Beijing. Representing Kern-Liebers at the signing ceremony were Dr. Hans-Jochem Steim, Chairman of the Administrative Board, Dr. Udo Schnell, Chairman of the Management Board, Klaus Scheuble, Commercial Director and Richard Bannmüller, head of the stamped parts business unit.
Kern-Liebers plans to build a new plant on this land by the middle of next year, which will initially be home to a modern heat treatment facility. "When completed, Kern-Liebers will be able to offer sophisticated services in the field of heat treatment at two locations in Taicang and Tianjin, and will therefore have established a unique selling point in the Chinese market," said Dr. Udo Schnell in the course of the small ceremony at the Schramberg headquarters of Kern-Liebers.
The new production facility was made necessary by a major order from the companies Schuler and BorgWarner in the area of heat treatment. The new plant will also manufacture the strip springs currently manufactured at the existing plant operated by the Kern-Liebers company D-Metal in Tianjin.
