KERN-LIEBERS participates in future-oriented study program
01/26/2017
As of the 2016/2017 winter semester the University of Albstadt-Sigmaringen offers a new, future-oriented field of study: Laser technology. The speakers of the course are first-rate experts from the industry, provided by KERN-LIEBERS in Schramberg and Ditzingen-based TRUMPF. Both companies are well-known technological leaders in their respective industrial sectors.
In four block courses the lecturers explain the theory of laser technology and laser material processing. A fifth block course is then held in Schramberg, where TRUMPF, expert in laser technology, develops and produces solid-state lasers with about 1.000 employees. The KERN-LIEBERS group, a leading operator of laser material processing in the production of springs and stamped parts is headquartered in Schramberg, employing about 1.350 people.
The cooperation is valuable for all parties involved: the University of Albstadt-Sigmaringen is able to offer yet another attractive field of study. KERN-LIEBERS and TRUMPF can transfer their latest know-how to students, which in turn can forge close links to industry and, last but not least, meet two potential future employers.
The course offer was already taken very well in its first edition – an excellent example for successful regional cooperation between university and industry.
