On 24 October 2015 a 120-member delegation from Baden-Württemberg, Germany visited one of the KERN-LIEBERS plants in Taicang, China, led by Minister-President Winfried Kretschmann.
The participants in the delegation, which included other ministers of the state government of Baden-Württemberg as well as representatives from industry, science, politics and the media, were able to get their own impression of the development of KERN-LIEBERS in China.
The delegation was welcomed by Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the KERN-LIEBERS Group Dr. Hans-Jochem Steim, Chairman of the Management Board of the KERN-LIEBERS Group Dr. Udo Schnell and CEO of KERN-LIEBERS China Mr Richard Zhang.
Dr. Steim highlighted the beginnings, the framework conditions and the development of the commitment of KERN-LIEBERS in China. Dr. Schnell outlined the activities of the KERN-LIEBERS group worldwide, with a particular focus on China.
The KERN-LIEBERS Group in China is made up of 8 different companies, of which 3 are joint venture companies. KERN-LIEBERS in China employs around 900 people in 4 plants at 3 locations. Since its beginnings in 1993, KERN-LIEBERS has invested approximately 100 million euros in China.
Since 2001, KERN-LIEBERS has been running a training center in China based on the German dual studies system. Working together with the company Mubea, it is currently training around 100 young people as toolmakers and industrial mechanics in modern training rooms.
On the eve of the delegation's visit to KERN-LIEBERS in Taicang, Dr. Steim and Dr. Schnell had the opportunity in Shanghai to exchange experiences with Minister of Finance and Economics of the state of Baden Württemberg Dr. Nils Schmid and representatives of German companies in China.
